Sabbath rest Pacific Island style

We have been blessed with restful days here on Maewo. In fact, most of the leaders have decided that this is one of the easiest missions we have done as far as hard physical work and heat index is concerned. The spiritual aspect has not always been as easy!

Yesterday (Sunday) pastor Dave did a service on forsaking religious tradition and following the Bible. Warren did the evening meeting on baptism with plans for a follow up baptismal service tomorrow. Since the Christians here follow the Anglican traditions to the letter we have stirred up a bit of opposition.

About eight of us traveled by boat today to minister in another location. On the way back we caught a six pound fish from the tuna family. It will be nice to have a little more protein to supplement the steady diet of rice and yams or tarro.

Today we will continue the work we are doing at the school. This mostly consists of telling Bible stories and painting and helping however we are asked. We have not been able to paint any murals here on the island since everything is made of thatch!

Current prayer requests:
-spiritual understanding and protection for those baptized today
-continued health (some of the team are fighting colds)
-the wind would die down by Tues. so we could take the boat to Pentecost Island airport
-we would be able to all fly together (currently there are not enough available spots)
Thanks so much for your faithful prayers, we so much appreciate them!
